Sports Day 25
Sports Day was the BEST day. The parents, led by Reuben, organised so many different activities, including some traditional ones. We all got into teams and took part in all of the games: egg and spoon race, sack race, dodge ball, 1-Bounce soccer and others. It was so much fun and to make it even better, the sun shone on us. We are so grateful to the parents who gave up their day to make it so special for us.
Creative Schools Clay Workshop
Many thanks to Joanna from the Creative Schools Program, who joined us to start her clay workshops with the children. The children got the opportunity to explore clay and to see how we can manipulate it to make simple creations. Joanna will return in Term 1 next year, to continue this work and to encourage the children's creativity and imagination even further.
Junior Tour to Castleview Open Farm
Infants, 1st and 2nd Class went to Castleview Open Farm on our tour. We saw emus, llamas, alpacas, pygmy goats, a skunk and some guinea pigs. We got lost in a maze and made some wishes in the fairy garden! We also played indoors where they had games for everyone. It was a great day!
Senior School Tour to Lough Boora
Rang 3, 4 & 5 went to Lough Boora on our school tour. We got a guided tour of part of the bog and learned some of the history of the area. We cycled one of the tracks through the bog and had a picnic and some games. We also had a look at some bog oak - that was something we'd never seen before.
Lego League
This year, we took part in the First Lego League. The theme was Submerged and we learned all about what lives under the sea, the dangers they face and how scientists explore the deep ocean. We worked in teams and designed and built different things every week. First Class to Fifth Class learned how to code their designs and had great fun doing so. At the end of the course, we presented our work to our parents and we even taught some of them how to do coding. We are going to take part in the Lego League again next year.
Care Aware Crew programme 2025
Over a 10-week period, Ms. Seymour’s classroom, actively participated in the Care Aware Crew programme, an award-winning health education initiative developed by the University Hospital Limerick in collaboration with the HSE Mid-West Health Sciences Academy and the University of Limerick. This free programme is designed to equip primary school students with essential health knowledge and emergency response skills. Through a series of interactive videos and engaging workbooks, students learned about critical topics such as making a 999 call, administering basic first aid, and understanding brain health.
The programme also aimed to introduce young learners to potential careers in healthcare, fostering early interest in the field. We invited some of our past pupils as guest speakers for this module of the course. This included nurses, an Occupational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist and a Pharmacist to speak to the pupils about their professions. Many thanks to Sarah, Áine, Emma, Jenny and Noelle for their conrtibution to the programme. Many thanks to Ms. Seymour for co-ordinating and delivering the programme.
